A healthy biking retreat in the beautiful rolling hills of Greene County. Enjoy a healthy environment and organic food while staying at Serenity Cove Natural Healing Center. Close to biking in the Cherokee National Forest and mineral baths in Hot Springs, North Carolina.
Bike rides are available through the Greeneville Hiking and Cycling Club. There are many routes ranging from easy to moderate, 10 – 50 miles with very light automobile traffic. Alesandra can accompany you on these rides, as she is a member of the Greeneville Hiking and Cycling Club. If you would prefer to bike alone or with your own group, Alesandra will make sure that you know how to get to your chosen ride.
Come by yourself or with a small group – we can easily accommodate 4 to 6 people.
“Five days before my recent 74th birthday I had just finished bicycling 517 miles across the beautiful state of North Carolina (CYCLENC Mountains-to-Coast Annual Bike Ride) from Spruce Pine to Atlantic Beach averaging 73 miles per day. On day 6 (Goldsboro to New Bern), I optionally bicycled an additional 26 miles and thus became a “Century Bicycler” by having bicycled at least 100 miles in 1 day.
I had considered doing this last year in CYCLENC 2012 when I was within a few days of being 73 years young; but “chickened out” when I reached the intersection where one makes a choice of either continuing on the regular route for the day or opts to go for the “Century”.
What happened here…why would I feel that I couldn’t do it at age 73 and then do it at age 74? The difference was that I was in a little better shape by virtue of having done a little more bicycling in the months prior to the 2013 event, but EQUALLY important, I had benefited from the healthy living recommendations of Alesandra Slone, from Serenity Cove Natural Healing Center made just two months prior to the 2013 event, which is always the last week of September and the first few days of October.
Indeed, fellow bicyclers much younger than me marveled at me at my age being able to get up each morning (typically around 5 a.m.) with abundant energy. Indeed I felt that my “recovery time” from the previous day’s ride was much quicker than on previous year’s rides (This was my 5th consecutive CYCLENC) and I attribute that mostly to Alesandra’s recommendations.
And each morning I awaken, I am amazed at how quickly I feel energized and ready to start the day, even when I awaken very early. Not so many months ago I couldn’t wait to get that first cup of very robust coffee in front of me and now I feel that I really could start the day without it!
While I have always been relatively healthy over the course of my 74 years, I feel that Alesandra’s recommendations have taken me to a new level of healthy living and I am deeply appreciative of that. In fact, with her occasional advice, I intend to “Raise the bar” and will always be seeking the next higher level of healthy living.
And now I am already looking forward to CYCLENC 2014 when I will be just a few days shy of 3 quarters of a century young! Jim Bailey – Charlotte, NC
